While walking through the farm (approximately 2,5hrs), the visitors are guided through our olive groove and our fruits and vegetable cultivations.
We talk about the history of the land, the idea, and how Andreas the owner, transformed it into a modern farm open to visitors. So the visitors get to know many of the plants that give us our everyday food (olives, tomatoes, potatoes, etc).
Andreas discusses their history, their cultivation and the process of harvesting olives and the making of the olive oil. His visitors smell various herbs (oregano, sage, etc), feed the animals of the farm (goats, chickens and rabbits), prepare and enjoy (farm to table) a fresh as it gets salad. Visitors also try 3 different types of olive oil and honey (commercial, organic and of premium quality), in order to signify the differences and aware of our visitors in nutritional and gastronomy topics.
Optionally there is a possibility to invite a professional Chef to the farm in order to prepare a full course meal (cooking demonstration) with ingredients from the farm and local fish or meat, depending on each group’s preferences.
Naturally, there is the option to cook the dishes exclusively with our own products, for a delicious meal, suitable for vegans or vegetarians. The length of the tour is extended by 1,5 hours.
Private Evening Tours start at 18:00 and last up to 20:30 or 22:00.
Be a Farmer for a Day workshop
Every Saturday morning the visitors have a chance to become farmers for a day! Our day starts with Greek coffee and traditional rusks at 08:00 in the morning. Andreas lights up the traditional wood-burning oven and kneads with visitors their bread.
He feeds the animals and takes care of the cultivations.
He harvests the best vegetables and returns to their open-air kitchen in order to bake bread and cook briam (mixed vegetables).
Visitors of Lefkada Micro Farm eat the most delicious food that has been prepared themselves from start to finish. The day ends approximately at 12:00.
