Lefkada is famous for the exotic beaches of the west coast, as well as the beautiful calm coves of the east coast. Add to these options, the surrounding islands of Lefkada, such as Meganisi, Sparto, Scorpios, Maduri, Kastos, Kalamos, Arkoudi, Atokos and many more, that you can easily sail or cruise around and you will understand why this island is always described as paradise on earth!
What very few know, is the beach line outside Lefkada natural wetland. Just before the entrance to the island, by the side of the road you see a Natura protected area of indescribable beauty. The migratory birds, often rest in the shallow waters that mirror the sky. And through these beautiful pallet of colors, you are found in the old wooden bridge of Diavasidia, many meters long, that lead you to a hidden beach. One of the best beaches in Lefkada! Just a few minutes of easy walk and you are stepping on the wide sandy beach, Vaya.
So close to the famous for the kite surfing beach of Gyra, exposed to the refreshing summer breeze, but also protected from the wild waves by the natural rocky breakwater, you will find crystal clean turquois water for the perfect swim. Great for every type of parties, younger or more mature, but also families and young children, due to the easy water access.
Vaya beach offers a very nice beach bar, that operates right on the beach from the morning till the evening, and serves coffee, a light lunch menu and beverages but also beers and cocktails.
There is great space to put your beach towels if you choose not to use the sunbeds, but you also can spoil yourselves renting a very comfortable sunbed with a relatively low cost.
Just a few miles away, in a short distance, you can also see the small island of Agios Nikolaos. A sandy small island, barely over the sea level that is only there to hold the small chapel of Agios Nikolaos afloat. You can swim to this beautiful spot and be enchanted by the simplicity of the ultimate serenity this small piece of land has to offer.
If you are a kite surfer, this is the beach for you too! You will just walk a little further from the swimmers, and the wind will offer you the ultimate high! The wind strength is perfect especially after noon and until the sunset. During the summer this can mean even 9.30pm.
The access with the car is very easy, and there is parking space just a few meters before you reach the bridge for a good number of cars. So carrying the kites will not be much trouble.
