Blue Sage Restaurant, Sivota: Worth Losing the Marina For

Most people who visit Sivota eat exactly where you’d expect, right on the harbour, at one of the tavernas with a view of the boats and a menu that reads pretty much like the place next door. Nothing wrong with that. But if you walk a couple of minutes back from the water, up behind the main strip, there’s a restaurant most tourists never find. It’s called Blue Sage, and it’s run by a brother and sister who clearly decided Sivota needed something a bit more ambitious.

A Terrace You Have to Go Looking For

The restaurant sits on a few terraces cut into the hillside, shaded by olive and citrus trees, looking down over the harbour.

It’s not signposted the way the seafront places are, so you do have to make a small effort to get there. Just ask at your hotel, or just follow the directions on Google Maps once you’re close. Once you’re seated, though, with the lights of the bay below you and the evening starting to cool off, it’s easy to see why people who’ve stumbled on it end up coming back three nights in a row. There’s no rush to the service either. Tables are spaced out enough that you’re not listening in on the conversation next to you, which is rarer than it should be on this coast in August.

Siblings Running the Show

Panagiotis runs the kitchen. His cooking sits somewhere between contemporary Greek and something harder to pin down. There’s fresh fish, good pasta, but also dishes that lean into Asian flavors in a way you don’t really see elsewhere in Sivota.

The hummus gets mentioned a lot, for what it’s worth, and so does the octopus. His sister Kiki runs the floor, and she’s the reason so many reviews mention feeling looked after rather than just served. She’ll steer you away from a dish if she doesn’t think you’ll like it, which is its own kind of confidence. Between the two of them, the place has the feel of somewhere that’s been open for years rather than since last year.

Food That Doesn’t Try Too Hard to Impress You

Blue Sage only opened in 2025, but it’s already sitting at a 4.9 on Tripadvisor with people using the word Michelin, which is not a word Sivota restaurants usually get. Part of that is the food. Part of it is that it doesn’t try to be a fine dining restaurant in the stiff, uncomfortable sense. You can turn up in shorts and sandals and still get a genuinely great meal and a wine list with some real depth to it, including some Greek reds that punch well above their price. Save room for the dessert;

more than one review calls Tiramisu the best they’ve had and that’s not a claim people throw around lightly on holiday.

Worth the Extra Ten Minutes

If you’re staying in Sivota for a week and eating the same taverna food every night, this is the one to break it up with. It’s not going to be the cheapest dinner of the trip, but people who’ve been say it’s the one they remember, and more than a few say they built a return trip around it. Go on a Friday or Saturday and book ahead — word has clearly gotten around, and the terraces don’t hold that many tables.
