You could say Lefkada is a big sandy beach, which calls for you to relax and enjoy summer in its purest form.
Below you will find a short desciption of some of the most beautiful beaches of this island!
The beach of Ai Giannis (Saint John) is one of the closest beaches to Lefkada Town. It’s 3 km away from the center and is one of the top beaches of the island. Large in size with turquoise waters and constant winds. This sandy beach is a meeting place for leading Windsurfing and Kite surfing Championships.
Another beautiful sandy beach with deep blue waters and golden sand.A beach with pristine waters frequented mostly by locals, lying opposite the pontoon bridge accessing the island.
This beautiful beach has been awarded as the best beach in Greece and as 6th best beach in the world by tripadvisor.com. It is located southwest of the island. This magnificent beach can be accessed via 347 steps. The clear crystal waters and the sunset from the beach create a dreaming landscape.
A huge and impressive beach which is located 30km away from the center of Lefkada Town. This long sandy beach is surrounded by impressive cliffs. Approached descending the 250 steps. It’s considered one of the top in Mediterranean.
Located 14km east of the capital of Lefkada and at close proximity to picturesque Agios Nikitas (only 3 min drive away). It’s a large beach with turquoise waters and white sand. For those who love to swim, at the end of the beach, on its right side, you will find many caves to explore. (This is a suggestion only when the sea is calm).It’s also very attractive for young people due to numerous beach bars.
Kavalikefta – Megali Petra – Avali (Kalamitsi):
There are three sand beaches 2km away from the village of Kalamitsi, with turquoise waters, white pebbles, sand and rocks for all preferences. There are two canteens, a few umbrellas and deck chairs.
These sandy beaches are not so famous as others and that is why, even in high season, they are not so crowded and you can enjoy a more relaxed day.
For those free spirited travellers, these beaches are ideal for free camping.
Especially in Avali, you will find ”Gaidaros” canteen which has a wooden deck which offer an amazing sea view. There, you can enjoy the sunset in the sound of the waves and some light music , beautiful coctails and some freestyle local dishes.
A long sandy beach with crystal waters and a rocky breathtaking landscape.The beauty of this beach is parallel to those of Egremni and Porto Katsiki and it gains some extra points because it is reachable by car. You will also find sunbeds, a canteen with refreshments, light drinks, beers, sandwiches and many more.
Agiofylli Sandy Beach:
One of the most beautiful beaches of Lefkada with clear turquoise waters. Located in a very graphical bay on the left side of Vasiliki. You can take the boat from Vasiliki(a 5min short ride) or follow the path from the southeast side with your car. This is not an organised beach, so remember to take with you water, food and an umbrella.
Ligia & Nikiana:
Small pebble beaches with calm waters, close to the villages of Ligia and Nikiana, ideal for families. Your kids will loose track of time playing for hours in the water and by the beach.
Mikros Gialos – Poros:
The beach of Mikros Gialos is one of the most beautiful on the island of Lefkada. It is located about 25 km south of the capital of the island, near the small village of Poros. The beach is long with pebbles and the sea is blue, crystal and with calm waters. On the beach are available deck chairs, umbrellas, bars and taverns..
Agios Nikitas – Pefkoulia:
This beach is located near the fishing village of Agios Nikitas, 10 km from the city of Lefkada. The summer it can be full as it is considered one of the most beautiful and most popular beaches on the island. It is easily accesible by car and has enough parking spaces, even in high season. The beach is a half wild untouched nature. Suitable for families with young children and for those who adore free camping.
The beach is at the end of a scenic footpath setting out from Agios Nikitas (a 20-minute walk) or you can go by ‘Taxi-boat’(5 min away). If you are willing to walk and follow the scenic path that will take you to the beach, you will have the opportunity to admire the breathtaking beauty of this beach from above.
The beach is also for nudists and is not organised, so be prepared.
