Lefkadian Gastronomy Festival

Festival of Lefkadian Gastronomy in Lefkada town is one of the well-visited events on the island. Beautiful Lefkada transforms in the summer months into lively and feastful island. Many events and festivals are organized to entertain and educate tourists about Lefkadian cuisine, tradition, folklore and culture. Famous festivals, such as,International Folklore Festival,Traditional wedding in Karya,Panigiri celebration and others, are very attractive to tourists.

Every year during the summer season, in July, takes place the festival dedicated to Gastronomy. This year, in 2020, we will have 7^th edition of the Gastronomy event, traditionally located in the charming Marka square, in vibrant Lefkada town. The festival promotes Lefkadian gastronomy and local products. The Gastronomy event organize Ministry of Tourism and Hellenic organisation of Tourism.

Each year the festival has a theme related to local products and cuisine. This way tourists can enjoy and taste some delicious local specialties. In previous years, visitors could taste lefkadian honey, traditional pies, fish and seafood, local wines, sweets. Feast of tastes, accompanied with musical program, free degustation, introduction with local variety of products and producers, live preparation and cooking of dishes by greek chefs. Especially attractive part of the festival is the preparation of the meals in front of the visitors by profesional chefs. Culinary demonstration from renowned chefs will give you the chance to experience how local recepes are made.

The summer event is becoming more and more popular each year. Last years the program became richer with the participants from other countries and their international cuisines. Besides Lefkadian products and dishes, you could taste flavors from France, Italy, Spain, Romania, Poland, Tunisia, Turkey and other countries.Therefore, don’t miss this unique gastronomic experience to taste the wide variety of flavors in a two-day festival.
