Porto Katsiki means in English “the goat port”. Τhe locals named the beach that way because before the 90s, without the existence of the main road, only goats could reach this area! It became popular in the mid-1990s, after the creation of a modern road network. Therefore, today Porto Katsiki is one of the most famous beaches of Greece and is located on the west side of the island of Lefkada.
At the beginning of June, a brand new road connecting the beach with Vassiliki was delivered to traffic. It reduces the access time to just 20 minutes and at the same time offering excellent sea views of South Lefkada bay, Kefalonia, and Ithaca.
Camping in this area is prohibited. For the first time this year, there were not available any umbrellas and sunbeds for rent. Also in order not to disturb the bathers and protect this earthly paradise, day boats were not allowed to go out on the beach. For the visitors’ convenience, there is available low-cost parking for the whole day.
Porto Katsiki is undoubtedly one of the most impressive geological attractions of Lefkada island, is awarded every year as a Blue Flag beach. As a result, the beach named for years by the media the best beach in the Mediterranean.
