The famous lentils of Lefkada

The AUTHENTIC lentils of Englouvi. They’re small, brown in color, mixed with many black and pale yellow lentils, as well as lentils with black and dark brown spots. It is easy to boil and, when cooked, it smells wonderful!

The lentils of Englouvi are harvested at an altitude of a thousand meters. The control is done by hand, which makes the cultivation of this organic lentil laborious and costly, but at the same time makes it highly nutritious.

It is harvested at mid-June and 20-30 tons of annual production are absorbed within 20 days, mostly by hand (from producer to consumer)!

Since the early 1980s, the village of Englouvi has hosted the “Lentil Celebration” on August 6th, coinciding with the feast day of Saint Donatos. This popular festival takes place in the square near the church of Saint Donatos, featuring live music, unlimited lentil soup, and various other attractions. It draws many locals seeking to escape the summer heat and enjoy the cool mountain air, while savoring the village’s renowned lentils.
